A multiplayer first-person shooting game, F.E.A.R. Combat has realism and lighting that have become its trademark. You have a fantastic multiplayer mode that is completely free. For a free game, it is pretty good, and the graphics are not bad. When it comes to F.E.A.R Combat, you have four different game modes that include Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Control, and Team Deathmatch. They're all self-explanatory games, and the game could benefit from different types of game modes. Control is one of the more interesting games where you have to hold off the attacks at a specific point while waiting for the clock to finish the countdown.

Another one of the noteworthy aspects of the game is how you can design maps to play against your friends. You have a lot of flexibility to design the maps with more hiding places, and the advantage of being the map designer is that you will have the edge when playing on that map because you will know all the hiding places.

F.E.A.R. Combat is one of the bloodiest games that you will ever play. People who like the blood and gore of games should enjoy this one because you can destroy your opponents with a host of different firearms. The download size of the game is fairly big, so you will have to wait a while before you can play it. As it is right now, you will have to free up two gigabytes of hard drive space before you can play. In terms of weapons, you have assault rifles, machine guns, and shotguns. The one thing that some players may not like is that there is no sniper rifle. The gunfights in F.E.A.R. Combat take place fast, and you will have to move forward fast with the game to survive. You can; however, play that to your advantage.

The sound in F.E.A.R. Combat is another aspect worth mentioning. You have some pretty good sound effects, and you will hear a person's footsteps as they get closer. You can use that to your advantage to blast them away before they find you. Like a lot of first-person shooters, you do not have a huge learning curve, which makes them more accessible. The biggest downside in the game is how running in the game can cause shakiness of your aim. That can make it more difficult to shoot. In a way; however, that is pretty realistic considering that you could not shoot accurately while moving in real life either. F.E.A.R. Combat has a friendly and helpful online community that can help you with your gameplay and improve your shooting abilities. It is there that you will find friends to play with and try out new and interesting maps.

Pros

  • Free to play
  • Good graphics and interactive environment
  • Easy game to learn
  • Design your own maps

Cons

  • Could benefit from more game modes
  • Big download size
  • Hard to aim while moving
